And the story continues in pictures

Last minute glitches and good laughs:

1. Waited and waited for 45 min for someone to pick me up from the hairdressers. Outside Coffee Day. The Mother eventually turned up at 5:15pm. Casually dressed. Meet the parents happens at 6:30m. She has forgotten about it. Panic attack

2. 6:10: Strut out of my house in my finery, only to realize that we are one driver short. End up driving myself to the venue. At least I got the good car

3. Father Augustino, was the same priest who baptised me when I was 17 days old. So he is a bit ancient. Mike, Bible, ring, kept threating to fall at the ceremony. Was nervously watching his hands through out...

4. Neighbour Barney made plans a week ahead not to bring his car, as he would'nt be able to drive back- as 'there are drinks!' :-)

5. Drove into West end and waved to Kurian (who was welcoming guests), who quicky averted his unbelieving gaze. Priceless.

6. We did'nt have a tray to rest the ring on. We forgot. Ended blessing it ackwardly in K's palm.

7. K's mom caught my, ahem, rather large grandmother, chomping on a chicken drumstick, when she went over to say hi.

8. K was introduced to by sweet, forgetful grandmother for the 500th. time, and she still asked him why he was of such advanced years and unmarried. She did'nt have a clue.

9. Spent most of the evening on one foot, as my shoe heel buckled under pressure.

10. Was told by 5 seperate people on 5 seperate occassions, that we looked like a pair of angles. heehehe...if only.

All in all- I loved every minute of it. And everyone who made it so secial for us. Friends, family... they were the best.

The pre-hitch ring switch happened!

On the Prince of Wales lawns, Lady Dee got engaged to Prince Kuri. After a few wise words and blessings from the Priest, the champagne and wishes flowed, and the quiet minstering of a piano, not to mention the barman, left everyone feeling quite merry. Congratulations to the lovely couple!

hair style help

I need help with the hair. I like my curls - so would like to keep it as natural as can be, without the friz. And certainly not up in a bun/ cross bun/ low bun or anything- though I dont think theres any getting away from it.

Hair accessories are OK. Flowers or something.

Put up some pictures of what I'd like the hair to look like.

I have 2 choices of hair & make up people- This lady called Zarine, who I've heard is pretty good. Though when I met her yesterday, she insisted on a 'Petal Hair bun' or straight hair. Humprhh. The other choice is K's cousin. Hairstylist trained in Singapore, who is young and hip. But what If i dont like her style? Its going to be a little odd- telling her.

Wedding trouseau

I've done it!! I've bought the wedding trousseau!!

It started out as a casual lunch time jaunt where I took Kavi to Priya Simrans to check out the only decent saree I found over the weekend. A pure silk saree in white and gold that would be suitable to wear for the church wedding.

I thought I had picked up something nice...that it until I saw the look on Kavis face. Of course being so ladylike, there was the tinest little frown between the eyes, and the lips pursed up just a tad bit disapprovingly. Then in a very quiet voice, she told me that I would look like a coat hanger wrapped in silk and how I needed something where my arms and figure could be seen though.

Sounded good to me and I surrendered into her very capable judgement. So we went to this place on Comm St. where I found the most gorgeous sarees and gaghras (yup- I'm going to fulfill the life long desire to wear a gaghra- 2 infact). 3 hours later, I had summoned The Mother, did a full dress rehersal and paid the bill and left...soooo happy.

Saree shopping with Kavi is the best!! Every saree that was draped was analysed for colour- If it makes one glow, fashion - Is it the 'in' colour, detailing- bride like- not gaudy. Pictures were duly taken at every stage for anayisis and final dicision making. Pictures will be put up on this blog shortly.

So- Those of you who thought that I would turn up in a pair of jeans- be rest assured I wont.
